How to Maximize Your Marketing Performance with Analysis

“Digital marketing is basically just posting stuff to social media and writing a blog every once in awhile, right?”

Unfortunately, this is a common misconception.

Yes, digital marketing does include social media activity and content marketing. But if we all just posted to social media willy nilly, our businesses wouldn’t make it very far.

The Key to Maximize Your Marketing Performance

The key to quality and effective marketing is planning and analysis. First, you need to create an action plan. How many times a week will you be posting to social? What platforms will you use? What type of content will you write and how often?

Once you have developed your action plan and put it into, well, action, it’s time for marketing analysis to kick in. Analysis is key in marketing because you need to understand what is working, or isn’t working, and why.

When looking at your social media analytics, what trends are you noticing? Do you followers engage more when you post photos or links? What blog topic performs the best? It’s important to keep an eye on these metrics because they’ll help you reevaluate your action plan.

If you’re not seeing the kind of engagement you want to see, that’s okay, because the solution is in the data. Take time to study what your audience is liking and what they’re ignoring. Are you being too salesy and pushing your product/service too often? Do you post too many times throughout the day. There are simple fixes to these problems, but you’ll only know that something needs to change if you look at analytics.

So to answer that common misconception, no, that’s not all that digital marketing is. Because the people who just post to social media every once in awhile, and write the occasional blog won’t see the results they want. Why? Because they aren’t analyzing and changing their plan.

Albert Einstein said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” This applies so well to marketing. If you don’t change the message you’re putting out there, you’re only going to see the same results.

So take a look at the data, and do something about it!
